The short version
- LinkDish saves recipes from links, videos, pins, photos and pasted text, and turns them into a recipe library you can cook and shop from.
- The recipes you save aren't ours. They belong to the people who wrote them. We just keep your copy, with the source attached.
- Extraction is best effort. A site can change or break, and a result can come out incomplete or wrong. Check it before you cook, and never rely on LinkDish for allergen or dietary safety.
- Your content is yours. We store it and show it to the people in your household because you asked us to, and that's it.
- Plans renew until you cancel, and cancelling happens in Google Play (mobile) or the customer portal (web). Deleting your LinkDish account does not cancel a store subscription.
- We're a small operation. If something goes wrong, email support@linkdish.ca and a human will read it.
1. Who we are, and what these terms are
LinkDish is operated by Robert Gordon, an individual, in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada.
These terms are the agreement between you and us. They cover the LinkDish Android app, the web app at app.linkdish.ca, the site at linkdish.ca, and the LinkDish API at api.linkdish.ca. Together, "LinkDish", "we", "us" and "our" in this document.
By using LinkDish, creating an account, or buying a plan, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy at https://linkdish.ca/privacy, which is part of this agreement by reference. That policy explains what we collect and why, and it's written to be read, not skimmed.
You need to be at least the age of majority where you live, or using LinkDish with a parent or guardian's consent and supervision. You also need to be able to enter into a contract on your own behalf.
If you don't agree with these terms, please don't use LinkDish. That's a real option, not a formality.
2. What LinkDish does, and what it does not do
LinkDish saves recipes from links and turns them into a portable recipe library. You can save from recipe websites, YouTube videos and Shorts, Pinterest pins, TikTok captions, pasted text, and photos of cookbook pages, recipe cards or screenshots.
From there you get a photo-first cookbook with search, favourites, tags, collections, ratings and a cook log; servings scaling and unit conversion (including oven temperatures); cook mode with timers; a weekly meal planner that builds one aisle-sorted shopping list; full backup and export; import from Paprika, Mela and JSON-LD; and, on Family, a shared household of up to 6 people.
What it does not do:
- We don't host, publish, own or claim the recipes you save. They belong to whoever wrote them. We store a copy for you and keep the original source one tap away. We don't sell recipes, and we don't license them to anyone.
- Extraction is best effort. LinkDish reads a page, video, pin, caption or photo and does its best to work out the ingredients and steps. Any given site can change its layout, block automated access, move behind a login, or simply break. Sometimes overnight, and without any warning to us. Some sources will stop working and stay broken for a while, or for good.
- Results can be wrong. An amount, a temperature, a cooking time, a serving count or a whole ingredient can come out missing or misread. Ingredients and steps are worth a quick read before you cook from them.
- Do not rely on LinkDish for allergen or dietary safety. Automated extraction can miss or misread an ingredient, and a recipe can change after you saved it. If you or someone you cook for has an allergy, an intolerance or a medical diet, check the original source and the product packaging every time. LinkDish is not a source of medical, nutritional or food-safety advice.
3. Accounts
You don't need an account to try LinkDish. You do need one to buy or restore a plan, and to take part in Family household sharing.
You sign in with an email login code. Google sign-in is also offered, handled through Clerk, and Apple sign-in may be added later. Whatever you use, the account is the same LinkDish account.
A few things we ask of you:
- One account per person. Don't share a login, or create accounts to get around plan limits.
- Keep your details accurate, and keep access to your email secure. Anyone who can read that inbox can sign in as you, so treat it accordingly.
- You're responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us promptly at support@linkdish.ca if you think someone else has access.
- You can delete your account whenever you like, under Account in the app. Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription bought through Google Play or through our web checkout. Cancel that separately (see section 4).
- If you own a Family household and delete your account, the household carries on. It passes to the member who has been in it longest. Only your own shared recipes, your shopping list items and the invites you sent are removed, and everything the others added stays. If the new owner isn't on an active Family plan at that moment, each remaining member gets a copy of the shared recipes in their own cookbook, as long as their cookbook has room. If you were the last member, the household closes.
4. Plans, billing and renewals
Free. Up to 15 personal saved recipes, and 3 free recipe imports before an account is needed. No ads. Cook mode, shopping list and offline access are included. Recipes copied into your own cookbook when a shared household changes hands don't count toward your 15 and use no import. We may change what the Free plan includes, and its limits, as the product develops. If we reduce a limit in a way that affects what you already have saved, we'll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
Plus. $2.99 CAD per month, or $24.99 CAD per year. It auto-renews.
Family. $4.99 CAD per month, or $44.99 CAD per year. A shared household for up to 6 people, with one cookbook and one shopping list that syncs between you. Family includes the Plus features. It auto-renews.
Founding. A one-time purchase of $29.99 CAD. It does not renew, and you are not charged again for it. It gives you the Founding access described when you bought it, for as long as we operate LinkDish.
All prices are in Canadian dollars. The exact price for your country, including any taxes, is shown at checkout before you pay, and that's the amount that applies.
Each paid plan also has a monthly import allowance. The allowance for your plan is shown on the plans screen and at checkout.
How you're charged. On mobile, purchases go through Google Play and are managed for us by RevenueCat. On the web, purchases go through RevenueCat Web Billing and its payment processor. We never receive your full card number.
Auto-renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the then-current price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. On mobile, the charge goes to the Google Play account you used to buy.
How to cancel. For mobile purchases, manage or cancel in Google Play. For web purchases, use the RevenueCat customer portal, which you can open from LinkDish. Cancelling stops future renewals and you keep access until the end of the period you've paid for. It does not refund the current period, except where section 5 or your statutory rights say otherwise.
One more time, because it catches people out: deleting your LinkDish account does not cancel a store subscription. Cancel with the store as well, or you'll keep being billed.
5. Refunds
Mobile purchases are handled by Google Play under Google Play's refund policy. We can't issue refunds for store purchases ourselves, and we can't see or reverse a charge that Google processed. Ask Google Play first.
Web purchases: email support@linkdish.ca within 14 days of the charge and tell us what happened. We'll look at it in good faith and sort out what's fair.
Nothing in this section, or anywhere else in these terms, limits a right you have under consumer protection law, including any statutory right to cancel or to a remedy.
6. Price changes
We may change our prices. A change applies from your next renewal after we've told you about it. It never applies retroactively to a period you've already paid for.
If you don't want to pay a new price, cancel before that renewal. A promotional or discounted price lasts for as long as it was advertised, and no longer.
7. Your content and licence
What's yours stays yours. You keep ownership of the recipes, notes, photos, edits, ratings, cook log entries and shopping list items you add. Nothing in these terms transfers ownership of your content to us.
The licence you give us. So that we can actually run the service, you give us a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, process, transmit and display your content solely to operate and improve LinkDish, including sharing it with your Family household as you direct. That's the whole purpose of the licence. It isn't for advertising, and it isn't for selling your content to anyone.
When it ends. The licence ends when the content is deleted. Two sensible exceptions: copies that sit in our backups until they age out, up to 90 days later, and anything we're required to keep by law.
When a household changes hands. If the owner of a Family household deletes their account and the new owner isn't on an active Family plan at that moment, we copy the recipes left in the shared cookbook into the personal cookbook of each remaining member. That copy is made under the licence above, and it's what stops the shared recipes disappearing when the Family plan does. If the new owner starts a Family plan later, the shared cookbook comes back and an unedited copy of a recipe that's in both places is hidden rather than shown twice. A copy made this way belongs to the member who received it, so it stays in their cookbook even if you later leave or delete your account. Keep that in mind before you add something to a shared cookbook.
What you confirm. You confirm you have the right to submit what you submit. Recipes you save from elsewhere stay someone else's work; the licence covers your copy, your notes and your edits, not a claim of ownership over the original.
8. Acceptable use
Please don't:
- use LinkDish for anything unlawful;
- scrape, bulk-download, harvest or systematically copy LinkDish or its data, or run automated tools against it;
- reverse engineer or decompile it, except where the law expressly allows you to;
- interfere with the service, overload it, or try to get around import limits, plan limits or paywalls;
- upload malware or anything designed to damage or disrupt a system;
- try to access another person's account or household;
- use LinkDish to infringe anyone's copyright or other rights; or
- resell or sublicense LinkDish, or present it as your own product.
If you seriously or repeatedly break these rules, we may suspend or end your access. Where it's practical, we'll tell you what the problem is and give you a chance to fix it first.
9. Third-party services and links
LinkDish relies on other companies to work: Google Play for mobile purchases, RevenueCat for billing and entitlements, Clerk for Google sign-in, Sentry for crash and error reports in the Android app, and Plausible for website analytics. It also depends on the sites, videos and pins you save from.
Their terms and privacy practices are their own, and we don't control them. Links and extracted content come from third parties, and keeping a recipe isn't an endorsement of the site it came from.
Copyright and takedowns. We respect copyright, and we expect LinkDish to be used in a way that respects it too. If you believe something in LinkDish infringes your rights, email support@linkdish.ca with:
- the work you own, and what it is;
- where the material sits in LinkDish (a link, a recipe title, or the household it's in);
- your name and contact details; and
- a short statement, in good faith, that the use isn't authorized by you, your agent or the law.
We'll review it and remove the material where that's appropriate. We may ask for more detail, and we may let the person who added it know.
10. Our intellectual property
The LinkDish name, logo, app, code and design are owned by Robert Gordon and protected by copyright and other laws.
The repository is source-visible and proprietary: you're welcome to look, but looking isn't a licence. There's no right to use, copy, modify, redistribute or build on our code or assets.
These terms give you no rights in our intellectual property beyond using LinkDish as intended. Please don't use our name or logo in a way that suggests we've endorsed you or your project.
If you send us an idea or a suggestion, we may use it without obligation or payment. We'd still rather hear it.
11. Availability, changes and discontinuation
LinkDish is provided on a best-effort basis. There's no uptime guarantee. Maintenance happens, outages happen, and a provider we depend on can have a bad day.
We add, change and remove features as the product develops. If we remove something material that you paid for, you can ask us for a refund under section 5, and we'll deal with it fairly.
If we ever discontinue LinkDish, we'll give reasonable notice in the app or by email, and, where it's practical, keep read or export access to your saved recipes for a reasonable period afterwards, so you can take your cookbook with you. Export has been there from the start, and we'd rather you use it than need it.
12. Disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by law, LinkDish is provided "as is" and "as available".
We don't warrant that extracted recipes are accurate or complete, that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, that any particular site will keep working, or that data will never be lost. Keep your own backup. Exporting is one tap.
None of this removes rights you have under consumer protection law that can't be excluded. If a warranty or guarantee applies to you by law, it still does.
13. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we're not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, for lost data, lost profits, or loss of goodwill, however it arises, and whether or not we were warned it might.
Our total aggregate liability to you, across all claims, is capped at the greater of (a) the amount you paid LinkDish in the 12 months before the claim arose, or (b) $50 CAD.
That cap doesn't apply to fraud, wilful misconduct, death or personal injury, or anything else the law doesn't let us limit.
This section applies whatever the legal basis of the claim, and it survives the end of your agreement with us.
14. Termination
You can stop at any time. Delete your account under Account in the app, and cancel any subscription separately with Google Play or through the customer portal.
We can suspend or end your access if you break these terms, or if we're required to by law. Where it's practical, we'll give you notice and a chance to put it right first. Serious cases like fraud, attacking the service, or putting other people's accounts at risk may be immediate.
When it ends, your right to use LinkDish ends. You can export your cookbook before you delete your account, and we'd suggest you do.
These sections carry on after termination: 5 (refunds owed), 7 (content licence, for anything retained in backups), 9 (third-party services and takedowns), 10 (our intellectual property), 12 (disclaimers), 13 (liability), 16 (governing law) and 17 (general).
15. Changes to the terms
We'll post any new version here, with a new "last updated" date at the top, so you can always see when it changed.
For a material change, we'll give reasonable advance notice in the app or by email before it takes effect.
If you keep using LinkDish after a change takes effect, that means you accept it. If you don't, you can stop using LinkDish and delete your account, and cancel any subscription, so you're not paying for something you've stopped using.
16. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. The courts of Newfoundland and Labrador have jurisdiction.
Consumer rights come first. If you're a consumer, nothing in these terms takes away a protection you have under the consumer protection law of the place where you live that can't be waived by agreement. That includes your right to bring a claim in your local courts where the law gives you that right.
Before anything formal: email support@linkdish.ca. Most problems are a bug, a broken link or a billing mix-up, and they get sorted out faster by email than by anything else.
17. General
Entire agreement. These terms, our Privacy Policy, and the terms shown at checkout make up the whole agreement between us.
Severability. If a part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, that part is cut out and the rest stays in force.
No waiver. If we don't enforce something once, we haven't given up the right to enforce it later.
Assignment. We may transfer these terms, and your agreement with us, to another person or company if LinkDish is sold, transferred or reorganized. We'll tell you in the app or by email before that takes effect. The new operator steps into our place and takes on our obligations to you under these terms. You can't transfer your agreement with us without our consent.
No agency. Nothing here makes either of us the agent, partner or employee of the other.
Notices. We'll contact you at the email address on your account, or in the app. You can reach us at support@linkdish.ca.
Language. These terms are written in English.
